My father-in-law once told me, 'Even if it's not the truth, it's still a good club to belong to!'
He no longer talks to me because I refuse to be a hypocrite and it has cost him his daughter. Silly man!
at least for many..... i remember looking around at meetings and so many in the audience seemed to be in another world.
people would get up and talk at the back shamelessly.
meetings were a good opportunity to make plans with friends.

this jw teaching that those who die at armageddon will not be resurrected but those who die before armageddon will be resurrected, always seemed unfair to me.. many have given up waiting for god to get his finger out and cleanse the earth of sinners like me.
they have concluded that the awe inspiring day of jehovah - armageddon no less - is a hoax.
dreamed up by john, high on something hallucinogenic and presented as a divine revelation.

The evidence was irrefutable and beyond doubt and you rejected my people.
Unforgivable by any standard!
What happens to those faithful but faint hearted people who can't cope with seeing so many millions of people being slaughtered by angels, and die of shock during Armageddon?
Dropping dead like that could be seen as disapproval of the methods used by this loving God. Why resurrect these wimps, when they have shown by their action that they cannot stand the heat in the kitchen.
Best let the birds of the field eat their fleshy parts and only allow gladiators into the new world.
i wonder if someone would care to produce a list (full quotes) of all the proof texts in scripture they are aware of that establish that the human soul is innately immortal?.
just the scriptures...without comment please...so everyone will see just how clear the bible alone (sola scriptura) is on this issue.

According to the bible we have an immoral soul, allegedly inherited from the first freedom fighter, Adam.
This is one biblical truth that I have proved, to my satisfaction, to be true.

Dreamed up by John, high on something hallucinogenic and presented as a divine revelation. For this they are deemed to be without faith in God and therefore unrighteous. The penalty apparently, is to be executed at Armageddon.
Were anyone privileged to receive a resurrection into a transformed word, they would also be able to see that Armageddon had occurred. Reunited with their loved ones, they would have no need for faith. The evidence of their own eyes would irrefutable. Faith with hindsight, after seeing the fulfillment of prophecy, is not faith at all.
They would also have the added advantage that my buddy the Devil and his demons would be banged up for 1000 years in a special prison called Abyss. Jesus would have replace all politicians, stopped all wars, and JWs would be the ruling class.
How can this Johnny come lately class be worthy of a chance at the big prize - just because they ate too much and died before Armageddon? Caesar will never allow this!
i don't care about scriptures that say god is "all knowing" or "know all my hairs on my head" cause that could all be done without being omniscient.
are there any bible verse's that speak specifically of god's omniscience?.

I don't think it does but have a word with those clever writers at the Vatican and they may well insert your suggestion in the next addition. Or somewhere!

Re: Do you know what happened to the boy that got everything he ever wanted?
He got to be president and gave George Bush Senior a great big hug!
isn't that a movie about a boy and a whale?
or a "big fish" maybe?.
Tammy: Surrendering our own will is a choice also, though, isn't it?
It is but then we no longer have free will. We have traded free will for an ideal.
We are just playing with words, which is fun, but at the end of the day, or sooner, we all do what we want to. Which is, I guess, free will!

To be a slave of Christ is to be a slave to love and to do Christ and God's will is to live our life with love and fellowship with all.
Not such a bad thing is it?
Not at all bad, even a noble endeavour. If we wish to live that way then it becomes our will. If not then it requires us to surrender our own will. Many bible passages make that clear, as do other Holy books.
We all seek to live with the ideals that we are personaly comfortable with, and in time they can change. If we can do that then we are free.

We are only truly free when we accept that we will die and that will be the absolute end for each of us.
Accepting that we will die no matter what we do, means that we can live as we truly wish to. Knowing that we are mortal allows us to make choices without being influenced by trying to investing in an afterlife.
If we live in the hope of gaining the approval of a god, or any other being who can reward us, our choices will always be influenced by our desire to please that being. Jesus is reported to have said many times that he lived to carry out his fathers will not his own; that to follow him one had to become a slave. Muslims tell the same story with regard to Allah.
Free will is the possesion of free men and women who know that the only reality is now and how we spend it our choice.
in his book die zukunft einer illusion (the future of an illusion), sigmund freud described belief in god as a collective neurosis.
he wrote that the religious impulse is essentially ineradicable until or unless the human species can conquer its fear of death and its tendency toward wish-thinking.. freud was a smart guy but he postulated a great deal on some things, fear of death in particular.
he was a committed atheist but did see the benefit of belief in god for the jewish people, of which he was a member.. but did he get it right?
I don't fear death - it's the end of both joy and pain.
I regret death - it seems such a waste.
